I’m addicted to my phone.
There. I said it.
The addiction came on slowly for me. While everyone else was playing with their smart phones I was happy with my teeny tiny dumb phone. And then the dumb phone took a dive, and I had to upgrade.
When I did, I was mesmerized by all the things my very pretty, very flashy, very smart phone could do. It told me when someone needed me, and it told me when I was late. It let me send pictures to my friends and stay up to date on, well, everything.
It didn’t dawn on me that a habit was forming. Not right away at least.
About a month ago, I went away to a B&B. For twenty-four hours there would be no children, no husband, no responsibilities. Just me and my old friend, silence. The goal was to make a substantial dent in the novel I’d been working on.… continue reading
